Graphic Novel Adaptation of an Epic Drama

Introduction

Many thousands of years before Shakespeare's poetry, Ramayana was sung at every royal court and the fires in rural areas throughout India. Even after two hundred years British missionaries were amazed to see Indians discussing the Ramayana and quoting it in their everyday conversation. To this day, in India it is common to transmit to children the names of heroes and prominent figures from the Ramayana. Also in Indonesia and Thailand, the story of Lord Rama is the basis of traditional art, literature, music and dance (Dutt, pp. 181-184). In these words is expressed in a certain sense the gap between Hindu traditions and modern science, which does not accept very long tradition which Hindus ascribe the Ramayana. However, with the adoption of technology in everyday life this perspective has been changed. It can be observed that technological sources are used for the depiction of epic literature. This graphic adaptation has proved to be beneficial for the new generation, as it is not only the source of entertainment but also introduce religious scripture to the new generation. In this paper I will be considering Ramayana and its transformation for scripture to an animated movie.

Beauty is defined in terms of dharma (the importance of implementing the duties of the person). Beauty in terms of emotions placed first, and perhaps most of all, beauty in terms of the characters he describes. Chief among all these characters is the Lord Rama.
