Introduction
This paper intends to expound the relation between grade point average (GPA) in successfully completing the PhD degree in nursing. The GPA is the grade point average which is the tool for calculating the student's performance. This is basically an average of the results of courses which are divided by the number of courses completed. This indicates that how well the student performed throughout the program. Keeping the good GPA is vital to the academic success and especially for the PhD students as GPA would help them in their professional lives. However on the other hand, slacking off the GPA can result increasing academic probation period. Hence, PhD in nursing program is highly competitive as it requires many distinctions in students which make them eligible in successfully completing their studies. This requires a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher to apply for the PhD program and then achieving 3.5 GPA throughout the program to get the success hence the dropout rates have also been higher due to the low GPA (Inver Hills Community College, 2012). Moreover, the PhD students are required to complete their all courses while acquiring the GPA of 3.5 or above to participate in the exam.
Significance of the Study
The study holds the immense significance for students, researchers, and policy makers as it will help the students to change their learning perspectives before taking an admission in the PhD degree because it is quite different from the previous studies.
