Illnesses like polio and small pox are all but eradicated from the face of the earth. All this has only been possible thanks to using and adding on the knowledge acquired by those that came before us. Thus, one would not be wrong in saying that evidence based medical practices have been present for quite some time now.

It goes without saying that evidence based practice is a clinical approach that is extremely helpful in aiding nurses in going about their duties. By referring to previous studies, literature and journals, professionals are better able to make decisions that can, at times, be the difference between life and death. The fact that they are capable of comprehending related evidence allows solutions to be acquired quicker and in a more efficient and reliable manner. Furthermore, evidence based practices are a great mechanism for learning and passing on formidable knowledge in the field of medicine.
