Introduction

Eric Schlosser's book, Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, confront not only the morality and sincerity of fast food and restaurant corporations, but also its widespread control over the farmers, meat packagers, slaughter houses and labor industry. It is evident and cannot be denied the problems caused to the American society by the fast food industry. The author defines the problem concerning three major reasons; the bulk of manipulative and monopolistic advertisement, non - regulatory actions of government authorities and the greed of the stake holders of the fast food industry. The social norms controlled by the fast food industry is monopoly in the industry, controlling the labor market, mass production of food without the consent of health and the cultural change brought in the American society because of fast food.
