Introduction

Ellis Island is an Island in the New York Harbor, which is the gateway to hundreds of thousands of immigrants to the United States of America. Although the original size of the island was much smaller, it got expanded to a large extent by landfills between 1982 and 1934. The island was host to the United State's largest immigrant inspection station from 1892 - 1954 and thus served a large number for immigrants.
