Introduction

This paper discusses the case of Mishap done at Murray ISD. Particularly, the paper will discuss the leadership practices and the theories that must reflect leadership at the school level. The principal of the school, John C. Penny, has been highly appreciated for his efforts throughout his career. In the beginning, he was appointed as the teacher of social studies at the school. Later on, after demonstrating his keen efforts and skills in the organizing of a social service group, he was offered the position of the assistant principal at the school. By showing his good work, he became the successor of the principal and was offered the job of principal. All of the members of the faculty search committee acknowledge his efforts in the field of education. He is a known educational leader in the city of Houston. Now, the problem is that there is a teacher in the school who is involve in a political party as she has joined the Democratic Party at the time of election. The two major parties of the city, Houston, i.e., Democratic Party and the Republican Party have some controversies on the issue of city's local watering holes. Now, the issue is basically that, the teacher, Janice Searight, who has been one of most reputable teachers of the school, has joined the party and she is now engaging students as well in her political activities. She is involving them by encouraging them to follow her in her activities in the class and also, outside the class as well.

Bob Sabec, the chairperson of Houston City's Republican Party, has now come to Penny and has asked him to stop Searight to involve and encourage students to be on her side. There are some students as well who have complained about this attitude of Searight to some of the teachers who have also informed Penny about this concern of students. The students think that if they would not follow Searight in her political campaign, they might get bad grades in her class. However, when Penny asked Searight about it, she did not admit that she is provoking students to follow her and she told that she was not involved in such kind of activities. On the other hand, Penny has himself seen Searight engaging in some of the political activities. Sabec has also threatened him to complain about this issue to the board and superintendent. Therefore, now, Penny is so much confused what to do. Searight has once being very encouraging and friendly to him when he was new at school. He has to make a decision as to what should be done in order to stop Searight from doing all this and keeping students away from these kind of activities.
