CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Drug abuse is a common correlate of criminal offending and victimization, yet there is no single, universal definition of Drug abuse. The American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders generally defines Drug abuse as any Drug use that is associated with persistent interpersonal, legal, occupational, and/or educational problems. It can also be used to refer to the use of Drugs in risky situations. The term Drug abuse has been used broadly across research disciplines to cover behaviors such as Drug use, misuse, abuse, and dependence.

Outline of the Study

The thesis based on this proposal will discuss the concepts of Drug Abuse. In order to provide a structure to study, the exploration will be guided through the use of research methodologies, the collection of data through secondary research and the interpretation of the results. The research report will further elaborate upon a well-designed and well-formulated prevention from drug abuse plan.

Background of the Research

The research study at hand will study and present the idea of how the programs of drug abuse will impact us. It will further facilitate the readers to have a clear idea regarding the drug abuse. A proper research, beneficial to the study, will be carried out and illustrated in a legible manner. Problem Statement

Much of this research going focused on youths, given the strong association between adolescent Drug use and delinquency, and the negative impacts of these problem behaviors into adulthood. J. David Hawkins and his colleagues (1992) at the University of Washington succinctly summarized risk factors for both Drug abuse and delinquency that exist across community, family, school, and individual levels.

Aims and Objectives

Efforts to prevent Drug abuse are concerned with eliminating the risk factors and enhancing the protective factors associated with drug use. The primary goal of Drug abuse prevention is to intervene and halt the influence of risk factors while simultaneously enhancing the effects of protective factors against Drug use and abuse.

Research Question

The following questions aim to develop the research report

What is the Importance of Drug Abuse Prevention?

How many types of Drug Abuse Prevention Programs

Electronic data base searches

The search will be undertaken take through the online databases literatures, Management Science Abstracts using the next keywords and blends thereof: Drug, causes of drug, drug abuse, substance abuse etc.

Inclusion and exclusion criteria

The following criteria were used to search databases, magazines and websites. The research should be:

The public method reconsiders model, meta-analysis, consideration of other publications, research, assessment, randomized controlled trials, browse research assistance;

Focus on the Drug abuse prevention

Concentrate on the research being conducted regarding the importance of drug prevention.

Both public and private libraries as well as online libraries will be visited to access the data. Some of the online databases that will ...
