About Edgar Allan Poe and his pieces

Edgar Allan Poe was an American author, poet and an editor. He was considered part of the American Romantic Movement. He is best known for his works on the concept of mystery, and is also credited as one of the earliest American writers of the short story with the invention of detective fiction genre. He has also been associated with his work in the genre of science fiction. Edgar was born with the name Edgar Poe in Boston. A tragedy struck at a very early age in his life as he was orphaned when his mother died soon after his father deserted the family.

Edgar was given a place to live by John and Frances Allan, who lived in Richmond, Virginia. The family never adopted the young Edgar formally. University of Virginia is amongst the institutions Edgar attended, but subsequently had to quit the university due to lack of funds after one semester. After that Poe enrolled in the Army. This also did not work out for the incredible sensation, and he subsequently parted ways with the Allan's. (Quinn .A.H, 1998)

After the army, Edgar moved on to become a publisher, with his work being published anonymously. Edgar's works influenced Literature across the United States and around the world, capturing the attention of specialized scopes, which included cosmology and cryptography. Edgar Poe's pieces appeared throughout the culture in literature, music, and television. Edgar Allan Poe is popularly known for his work in the area of fiction and Gothic. This genre was followed by Edgar to calm down the public taste in the early and mid 1880's. His most recurring pieces are based on topics of death, including the physical signs, the matters relating to decomposition of the human body and the re-incarnation of the dead. (Meltzer .M, 2003)

In the year 1849, Edgar was found in a state of distress on the streets of Baltimore. The person, who found Edgar, reported that he was admitted to the Washington College Hospital, where he was announced died on October 7, 1849. Edgar Allan Poe never recovered from the position he was found in, to explain how he happened to be in such a condition. To add up problems to the mystery, he was wearing clothes which did not belong to him. Further all record to his death, including his death certificate is said to be lost. Newspapers of the time reported that the death was caused by "congestion of the brain". The definite reason of death still remains unknown. (Meltzer .M, 2003)
