In the last 10 years curriculum in the schools have seen most dramatically change in the United States of America. Several trends are taking place that will change the education dramatically in coming years. Due to changing trends in United States, curriculum in schools is changing dramatically accordingly.

After the allocation of legislation of No Child Left Behind, schools have increased the allocation of instructional time to curricular areas (Stevenson, 2010). There can not only be seen increase in time participation of students in math and language arts but also increase in several high and middle schools also. “No Child Left Behind” was signed by George Bush in 2002, which includes the requirement of science. The curriculum must support students to understand the complete variety of views on science that currently exists.

Youth is increasing dramatically in United States. Since last 10 years it has been seen increase in youth and increase in youth has been noticed. It is expected that youth will increase by increase by 35 percent in coming 40 years (Stevenson, 2010). Assuming this increase in youth population, there will be needed more schools in coming years.

The population of youth is becoming more and more diversified. Youth of different cultures are enrolling in schools. It can be seen that 4 out of every 5 children were white forty years ago, but this rate seems to be decreasing in present year. It is expected that whites will decline to 35 percent from 52 percent by 2050 (Stevenson, 2010).

Early childhood students are coming to school more and more. The potential students are taking admission in preprimary school. It has been noticed that there is increase in preprimary age students taking admission in schools.

Smaller schools are diminishing in the United States, where operation of secondary schools is increased about 5 percent. This is also the reason for bringing change in schools curriculum because larger the school means more diversified students.

Above mentioned trends are enforcing changes in curriculum in schools dramatically. United States is becoming culturally diversified, where students from different cultures and countries are taking enrollment in schools to pursue their educations. Youth of America is increasing and advancement in technology is also playing major role in changing curriculum in schools.

English Language Learners or ELL is for students who are learning English language as their first language is not English. ELL benefits from effectual instruction in reading before the students are completely proficient in English language as long as the teaching is understandable. The development of vocabulary is important for skills in oral language and reading comprehension, which is believed to be very important factor of ELL literacy instruction (Williams, 2011).

Educators are in charge to make sure that every student in the school understands the curricula set by the state Departments of Education. It becomes more difficult for a student who enters in to the classroom of high school in America and he is unable to speak fluent English, read or write, ...
