Introduction

Indonesia is among the most populous countries in the world, and is ranked on 4th according to the world's population ranking. The history of Indonesia is quite interesting and holds lots of facts and figures which make it interesting. It is considered as an important part of the world, and its small states are said to be influenced by the Indian civilization. Throughout the many years, Indonesia has progressed and changed to a great extent. The country changed from rocks to bricks and the construction and architecture changed tremendously. The people of Indonesia witnessed the great changings, and were influenced by other countries and culture of other countries. Buddhism and Hinduism ideas of the divine kinships, legal systems and writing systems that came from India were adapted locally. Even though Hinduism influenced the whole culture throughout the Southeast Asia, the Balinese were the only people who turned out to be Hindus.

The Indianized States, however, declined in about 1400 CE as there was arrival of the Muslim traders along with the teachers from Yemen, Persia and India, and later more people from different states entered Indonesia. These countries and traders joined together to form connections with China and India. In this way, Indonesia changed its trade power and got connected with other countries. Indonesia is culturally rich, and with the passage of time the country has changed to a great extent. In the coming 100 years, the country is expected to grow and expand more.

In the 19th Century, Indonesia did not gain independence, but in the 20th Century the rulers and governors of Indonesia started their fight for independence, and later they gained it. Since then Indonesia has become an important part of the world, and is the home of several people. Indonesia is culturally rich, and its culture is highly dependent on its religion and old traditional thoughts. Indonesia gives special importance to its culture and civilization which has developed and changed to a certain extent in the past few years. Different communities are formed throughout the country, and the country is highly based on community systems. Each community has its own form of living and they are highly dependent on their culture and civilization.

The size of the country and the ethnic diversity has made the identity of the country problematic. Indonesia is based on the different principles of the country, which includes its anthem, flags, education and others. Media and schools have influenced the people and life of Indonesia to great extent and the government plays an important role by regulating the education and media. The history has been focused on the resistance to communism and colonialism by the leaders and the national heroes who are enshrined in the names of streets. The glories of the civilizations that existed in the past are recognized but the archaeological remains are of the Javanese principalities. The Indonesian lifestyle is greatly influenced by its traditions, values and culture.
