Introduction

The definition of a team is a unit of two or more people who interact and coordinate their work to accomplish a specific goal. Team requires collective efforts of dedicated team players or members which can strive towards a common goal in synergistic manner. The leader of team should contain certain qualities in order to guide his team in circumstances (Bass, 1997). He is responsible to motivate the team in effective manner. Similarly, this paper explains the experience of my team in which each team member contributed significantly towards accomplishing a mission. The team participated in a contest to invent a gadget in the field of information technology. This was regarded as the competition on national level of great importance. The technology driven project required the collective effort of the team which was successful accomplished by the team.

Team Context

The definition of a team is a unit of two or more people who interact and coordinate their work to accomplish a specific goal. Teams regularly perform in complex and dynamic environments, where their responsibilities take them into domains that differ from their exhaustive training or direct experiences. Yet it is often impractical or impossible to cram teams to perform well in every situation that they may encounter. To succeed in dynamic and risky task environments teams must be prepared to adapt spontaneously to rapidly changing and unpredictable conditions (Weiner, 1984). I managed to introduce the favourable factors such as providing the investments of sorts to my team to boost their morale. This is due to the fact that leader's devotion towards an objective drives the team to work accordingly.

The team work in universities is done on the basis of deadlines and projects. Thus, the purpose of team that I manage is similar to other task-oriented teams in the competition. The teams are usually established to achieve a common goal with more efficiency and synergy. Therefore, my team also strives for the accomplishment of goals. The history of the team dates back to previous year when a project was announced to invent a gadget in the field of information technology. The tenure of the team was estimated to a period of six months until the completion of the project. We invented a new gadget, a USB, for the detection of errors in malfunctioning machines. There were five members in the team who were given significant roles and responsibilities accordingly.

The diversity of the membership was laid on a broad spectrum regarding the desired functions of the team. This means that there each individual was assigned certain set of duties according to the designated position. For example, there were two people looking after the technical aspects of the project whereas two were considering the marketing and management perspectives. I was responsible for the overall observations and controlling of the team as a leader. The key activities were also distributed accordingly. .
