There have been many men and women that stand out because of their critical thinking skills and thus have earned their reputation as being critical thinkers. It is pertinent to mention here that such thinkers were faced with adverse situations and demanded them to show perseverance and critical thinking in order to succeed in testing periods. These great thinkers through their efforts brought about constructive changes within their societies. Although there have been many prominent critical thinkers in history, we would look to study the role of Martin Luther King and Bill Gates. Different factors like their contributions to society, the problems or issues that they successfully resolved as well as how they were able to successfully come up and implement the solutions are significant factors that would be addressed within this paper (Alderman, & Inwood, 2013).

Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King was one of the most prominent historians in the context of American history since he devoted all his efforts in shaping a better society for all irrespective of their ethnicity and caste. Martin Luther King was against discrimination of any sort and thus encouraged people to successfully build traits of cooperation, mutual trust and love in order to eliminate any complexities arising out of the different values. Since blacks and whites are exposed to different types of challenges, Martin Luther King made sure to convey the complexities which might arise in the case of both of them living together. There were different factors that shaped the political personality of Martin Luther King, comprising of his deep family roots, his formative experiences, employment of different models pertaining to religious and political leadership as well as the diverse network of contacts in the case of peace and social justice movements. The life of Martin Luther King was devoted to ensuring the social justice and public safety (Alderman, & Inwood, 2013).

In the period of Martin Luther King, there was a massive influx of social justice and public safety issues and thus the speeches and efforts of Martin Luther King went a long way in successfully shaping the political, intellectual and cultural developments. One of the foremost characteristic employed by King in his life was the high level of courage he portrayed. This sort of courage motivated King to fight all odds and he did not fear anybody.
