Introduction

A (business) Consultant is considerably an individual, who exercises his knowledge and specialized skills to assist organizations in their operations and other strategic decision making. It is considered that when competition is immense and organizations are aiming to achieve top-line growth, the role of consultants has become very critical to the organizations (Target, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 1999). My current skills include the fact that I am good with connecting to people and coordinating with them. I have developed team working skills over time, which has been very useful (McLarty, pp. 262, 1998). Moreover, I have good negotiation and report writing skills which helps me as a consultant (Matthews, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 2006). As a consultant, I believe, I need to become an effective communicator (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007). Communication is such a key element of consultancy that I believe has a massive room for improvement within my competence. I believe my strengths lie in my will, determination and hard work. When I set out to do something, I really stay committed to the cause and put my heart into the job.

As a consultant, my foremost responsibility is to aid my organization in certain areas associated with the comprehensive work. While I may function as an instructor, an impetus for deeper change, an asset, or a facilitator, the authority to take the decision stays inside the organization (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007). The head Committee, staff, board, and official executive have the power to make the final call (McLarty, pp. 259, 1998).

Personally, I would want to become a marketing consultant primarily because It's an area of my interest and I believe that a person is more likely to excel in his/her field of interest it becomes easier for him/her to develop interest in the job. I have done my majors in marketing as well which is a reason why I would love to be a marketing consultant and I would consider opening up my own firm in the future. I will have to develop an organized plan for the future. I will have to develop certain skills which will help me become an effective marketing consultant (Matthews, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 2006).

Discussion

There is no doubt that no individual is perfect (Matthews, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 2006). Though, some people are considerably more competent than other merely because of their dedication and interest into that particular field. Competence can be increased though knowledge and practice, and anybody can be a better practitioner in its respective field of interest (Matthews, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 2006).

While evaluating my personal self, I have also come across with various imperfections and challenges (Targett, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 1999). After comprehensive investigation I have figured out that there are four challenges which I could face if a company hires me as a consultant (Matthews, pp. n (Pryor, pp. 51, 2007).d. 2006).
