Introduction
Developmental psychology is a scientific study of various different systematic emotional and psychological changes that occur in a human being over the course of time. Some of the key areas that formulate as a basis for understanding these emotional and psychological changes include an individual's cognitive development, physical development and social emotional development. This paper embarks upon an understanding of the similarities and the differences prevalent in both Oprah Winfrey and Albert Einstein. Moreover, it also attempts to create an understanding of the impact of diversity on their cognitive, physical, and social-emotional developmental processes.

Cognitive development is an individual's ability to think, perceive and hence gain an understanding of his or her world through means of interacting their genetic and learned factors. (Demetriou, A. 1998)
These may include resources such as memory, problem solving, perceptual skills and even language. According to Piaget, the development in an individual advances through a set of stages beginning from childhood to adulthood and that there is an end point. Whereas others like Lev Vygotsky believe that the developmental process begins at birth and tends to continue till death. (Demetriou, A. 1998) The social emotional development aspect comprises of not only a child's individual experiences and expressions, but also how they manage their emotions and establish a positive relationship with others. (National Scientific Council on the Developing Child, 2004) The main crux underlying an individual's social emotional development is their ability to identify their own feelings and comprehend it along with the ability to accurately read and understand the emotional states prevalent in others around him, developing empathy for others around him or her, regulating their own behavior, managing strong emotions and hence expressing them in a constructive manner.
