Introduction

This essay compares and contrasts the three vital theories in relation to war and ethics associated with them. The three fundamental theories that are taken into consideration are Just War theory, realism and pacifism. All three of them are different and similar in a number of ways.

Discussion

Just War theory focuses on the ethical responsibility and liability of state, as well as military officials during the war. This theory emphasizes on the validation of cause of war, such as self-defense is one of valid cause to go for a war based on this theory. On the other hand, realists consider war to be legitimate and ethical when the matter is of gaining power/ authority and matter of national security. However, pacifists rejected the idea of war in general to support peace. This theory argues that war can never be justified by any reason as it involves killing of millions of people. Hence, it cannot be ethical in any manner when people were killed because of security issues or to attain power over a state or self-defense. Pacifists focus on maintaining peace rather than justifying war in the sphere of ethics.

Just War theory provides much more realistic view of the war in the context of war. Several advocates conceived Just War theory as a statecraft theory, which stated that the war is substantiate and validated as the task is primarily and essentially to look for justice. On the other hand, there was more to be asserted in relation to justice or impartiality in warfare as compared to what was uttered in uncertainty and vagueness sense of politics and his lesser or greater malevolence/ immorality doctrine exercise of power.

Realism portrayed and promoted the real picture of war and the ethical dilemmas come across in this context. This theory provides more emphasize on rules and regulation that need to be followed during the war.

The theory of pacifism is a promoter of non-violence society. They perceive all form of violence as unethical and emphasizes on stop killing of people. The critics asserted that this theory lacks in taking account of real world because it is not possible to stay calm and do not counterfeit the enemy or the one who raise questions on the state sovereignty and independence, and individual freedom or live.

Pacifists do not support the use of power or force while this does not refer to apprehension and trepidation. The realism takes into consideration how internationally tolerable moral privileges control and determine warfare. These wars should be internationally endorsed in order to take part and optimize support in relations to alliances since such forces are multipliers. Ethical feasibility permits individual to attain the compassionate preferences and tendencies of all human beings; thus they will have a preference to select what is right or beneficial for humanity or society or for the whole nation, as well.
