Gillespie-Lynch et.al (2012) conduct a longitudinal research that aims to demonstrate that intelligence and early childhood language skills, are predictive indicators for adult adaptive behaviors. The study uses a sample of 20 participants, which are assessed on multiple factors. These factors are essentially predictive indicators. The study also retrieved responses from parents. These interviews assessed the global functioning, autistic symptom logy and adaptive functioning of their children.

Khodaee et.al (2011) base their research on analyzing the significant burdens placed on mothers and other caregiver's of children with autism. The aim is essentially to analyze these care giving mothers, and identify their mental health distresses. The authors used controlled experiment methodology. The samples included 50 mothers, with autistic children and 50 more mothers without children suffering from autism. The results were demonstrative with regards to rise in mental distress levels of mothers, when attending to their autistic child's needs. These distresses were formed in the shape of anxiety disorders and depression. Furthermore, social functionality of the mother also deteriorates, as she attends to the autistic child. The authors also provide recommendations to eliminate the impact of distress on mothers. The recommendations iterate the need to participate in supportive psychotherapy, social network and psycho educational family.

Rice (2011) focuses their research on analyzing the Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). Rice argues that symptoms and biological markers are not present to indicate patient's affliction of ASD. As such professionals are required to identify the patients with ASD. Through the research effort, the authors were able to identify certain public health actions required to counter ASD affliction among young children. These actions include continued monitoring, and ascertaining the various factors that lead to outbreak of ASD in children. Rice (2011) research is also indicative of the fact that the problems of diagnosing and treating ASD are increasing with time. This is based on results retrieved from the research design, for the period of 2002 to 2006.
