Introduction

Every person has to fulfill a list of personal and civic responsibilities. While, personal or private responsibilities deal with the person himself, along with his family and near ones, the civic responsibilities have a wider focus. The fulfillment of civil responsibilities decides how good a person is, as a citizen. In some cases, the civic responsibilities may prevent a person from fulfilling his personal responsibilities. A person can make a difference to the community by fulfilling all his personal and civic responsibilities. Also, the completion of responsibilities would help the person to make a difference in American society as a whole.

Discussion

A person during his lifetime has to fulfill a list of responsibilities. As soon as a person grows up to school going age, he begins to fulfill the various responsibilities posed on him by his parents, teachers, etc. The extent to which a person fulfills his personal and civic responsibilities decides how good he is as a person, and as a citizen respectively. Some of the major personal and civic responsibilities are discussed in the following.

The major personal responsibility of a person is to take good care of himself and his family. If the person is head of the family, he has to care and support the nutrition, housing, clothing and educating needs of his family members, including the children. On the other hand, if the person is under the supervision of his parents/guardians (head of the family) he or she should obey the guidelines provided by them. A person in any capacity should accept the responsibility of his actions, instead of blaming others for any chaos; thus, he should always adhere to the moral and ethical principles.
