In August 2010, the international media focused on the Chilean copper mine incident which took place in northern Chile. The mining shaft was collapsed and 33 workers were trapped inside. This was a big tragedy which draws the attention of many people around the globe. The media played a very important role in covering the latest news and events until the workers were rescued in October 2010. It was a kind of major unnatural disaster and the audience was totally dependent on the media news and coverage. The reporters were busy in providing details of each and every minute and this was keeping the trapped workers, the rescue teams and the families in co ordination (BBC News, 2010).
Traditionally the news from radio, television and print media also played a very important part in covering the entire situation. Different support centers and the support teams were active throughout the entire dilemma so that they can provide support to the families waiting for their trapped family members rescue. The spokesperson showed the signs of empathy and they communicated the voice of company in a very respectful and sympathetic manner (Electric Airwaves, 2010).

Miners who were mining with the imagination of going back home to their families never knew what was about to happen the next minute. On 13th October 2010 33 miners were trapped under ground not knowing who will help and not knowing whether they will be rescued or not, with no hopes they remained underground and prayed to breathe the fresh air for once. 13th the date which is already considered one of the most unlucky numbers turned out to be even worse.
After the deadlock of thirty three days the miners were rescued after extreme hard work and were brought to the surface. There was ...
