Miseries of the US Labour Market

Introduction

Workers in the twenty first century and the changes occurring in our society today are having a profound effect on Americans and the economic stability of the future. Americans are known to be money makers. They tend to be less worried about not earning enough as they should. However, those who barely make enough become capable to put food on their tables or heat in their homes. It is increasingly becoming a troublesome fact that globalization is more likely to affect low skilled Americans as compared to skilled workers. They will compete for jobs and wages with other low skilled workers around the world. In reality, if they do not improve their working skills as well as their knowledge, a great possibility exist of them losing their jobs, particularly to someone who will do it better and for a lot less money. This outcome can be predicted because of the normal nature of the employers. They would obviously want to employ an individual who could produce the same output or even more at a lot less pay. This would reduce the cost of the employers as it is commonly known that wages amount to the majority of a company's expense.

Discussion

With the elections in full swing, it has been argued that the Republican Party does not have much respect for the people who work for other people, no matter how well they do their jobs. The party's affection is reserved for “job creators,” who are also known as employers and investors. Mr. Romney has been recorded to state “the 47 percent who do not pay income taxes- declaring, my job is not to worry about those people.” The question here is why not, They are hardly slackers or moochers in fact a large portion of that 47 percent are hard working families who pay income taxes, and the elderly or disabled make up the rest. It is estimated that 15 million Americans are out of jobs today, President Obama is reducing work site enforcement of immigration laws even though worksite enforcement aims to provide jobs to Americans. President Obama has been reported to have stated that his top priority is providing jobs to the American people. Even then, the country faces the highest unemployment rate in decades. It is obvious that Americans need jobs; so when illegal workers are caught and released ...
