Cause and effects of the Civil war

Introduction

The Civil War of the U.S. is considered to be the first modern war by the historians. The precarious union that was between the southern and northern states came to an abrupt end by turning into a full war because of long recurring debates of political nature. The effects of the Civil War were quite pronounced and heavy. These effects regardless of their nature, i.e. bad or good, held a profound effect on the U.S for many future generations of Americans.

Any war, regardless of the fact that it is fought between multiple countries or it is a Civil War, always have multiple causes in its' root and each war promises long running after effects that never fail to have a huge impact on the future of the countries involved in it.

At the time when Abraham Lincoln became the President of United States, the states in the South of the country harbored the belief that there might be trouble because of the prevalence of slave trade in that particular area of the country while Lincoln had an anti-slavery stance. So the states in the South started defecting from the main U.S; this planted the first seeds of Civil War in the minds of the populace. The South of U.S was more involved in agriculture in contrast to the North which was more industrial oriented; this is why the South was in favor of retaining the slavery system.

In 1865 after the end of the war the biggest effect it had was that slavery was abolished. A lot of political and economical changes also took place in the aftermath of the war. Another major effect it had was that there were no more defecting states. Also, the southern states had sunk in the sinkhole of depression because of the war. In fact they were in so much trouble that the Northern states had to actually send financial assistance to help the Southerners re-stabilize themselves.

From the many minute political and cultural causes and their effect, two main causes of the war are discussed in the following.

Slavery

From the time reaching before the Civil Wars took place, the economies of majority of the states in the South of U.S were depending on slavery. The slaves were majorly used in agriculture and were also used as trading goods for fetching exorbitant prices based on their health, physique and gender. While in contrast the North portion America was slowly but steadily increasing their anti-slavery promotions. They began to conduct propagandas between the assisting slave that had escaped their fetters and the cities.

Also new states were being accepted by the federal governments in the Union that was not allowing slavery. It resulted in the effective lessening for the cause of the Southern States which going by the system of Government mentioned in the Constitution stated the states in South will have less Government representation if the majority of non-slaves states ...
