Introduction

The essay is composed of three parts that are highlighted the Confucius. The first part of the essay is aimed at providing the reflection on the worksheets of the Tao Te Ching where an effort is made to explain the suggested passages with the use of personal examples and experiences. The characteristics of the early Daoist teachers are also briefly explained in the light of the Daoist teachings, and I have drawn my personal understanding of the teachings, as well. The part of the essay provides the description of the ideal person and an ideal society according to confusions. Finally, the third part of the essay provides the Shinto illustration with the use of symbols that are based on the beliefs of Shinto religion.

PART 01: Reflections on the Daodejing (Tao Te Ching) Worksheet

Dao De Jing is being regarded as the wisdom text where the title was translated to be meant as the power of the way amongst others. As per my understanding of the passages, I have tried to make a better reflection of the message concealed in the words of the following chapters from the DDJ (Marie, 2009).

Passage#01-Chapter 52

The starting lines of the passage intend to provide a person with the secret of enduring life by means of avoiding the irrelevant conversation. It says that the one who keeps quit and is refrained from the unnecessary talk is going to be protected from the troubles. The protection of the sense means that the closing of eyes and ears will prevent one to make interventions in the world that are not required or that might lead to the troublesome situations (Chalmers, 1868).

As long as one lives and engages itself in the world talking and swims in the ocean full of materialistic desires, there are no hopes for the enduring life. The person would never be able to get himself out of the troubles and worldly affairs (Chalmers, 1868).

Passage#01-Chapter 9

My understanding of the passage makes me state the secret of a happy and peaceful life resides in the middle way living. All those who strive to get the more and more are always stuck in troubles and always surrounded with the appetite to get as much as possible. One has come into the world alone and will depart the same way, the one thing that would help him in the later world are the humbleness and the life he lived in a balanced way (McDonald, 1996).

The lines tell one that wealth and gold could not protect a person from the dangers and hardship of the worldly life rather the way to the heaven could be marked by limiting oneself to the purpose of an activity. A person must get itself back as soon as the work is done and should not poke his or her nose in matters of others (McDonald, 1996).
