Introduction

Are zoos cruel to wild animals? It is one of the most interesting questions that come in mind of many people. Some people think that keeping animals in a cage is a barbaric activity, as they want freedom as, well. It is the most common misconception in the minds of people that the zoo is a place where animals are not treated well. The Association for the Defense of Animal Rights (ADDA) has nearly 30 years fighting against the captivity of wild animals in zoos, and against their use in advertising (Hanson, pp. 180-181). There are many reasons where people think that it is wrong, but it is also a misconception.

Discussion

One of the arguments for considering zoo a cruel place for animals is that, many animals living in different zoos do not have a tolerable situation. The condition of those zoos is not worthy enough for animals to live, so they think that zoos are the cruel place for animals. It is therefore, necessary to improve the rules on keeping animals in zoos to protect species, and conserve biodiversity and ensure, at the same time, its importance to national education and scientific research.

This does not mean that the zoo is a cruel place for animals. Zoos are not a cruel place for animals, especially in United Kingdom and United States. The main function of these zoos is conservation. Zoo is a place where animals are kept with care, and they got treated well. They do not only get food on time, they are also vaccinated on time (Kleiman, pp. 30-33).
