Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Business Ethics” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on “Business Ethics” and its relation with “Corporate system”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Business Ethics” and tries to gauge its effect on “Corporate Culture”. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for “Business Ethics” and tries to describe the overall effect of both.

Introduction

Business ethics refers to the applied moral standards in corporate decisions. It cannot be categorized as legal or ill-legal. However, these standards are main agenda on which one's own behavior is based. These agendas are neither according to law nor can be changed by it. Hence it is all about how does an organization behaves when law does not dictate any specific code of conduct for the company. The questions being addressed in this paper is the role of business ethics as well as corporation in the society. The corporate culture and ethics vary from society to society. However, every business and corporation emphasizes on ethics and social responsibility of the corporation.

Q: 1 How long has the Corporation existed?

The corporation existed even before that generation, who initiated to provide goods and services with measurement and techniques with no knowledge of financial capital. However, in initial centuries the man related to corporation and commerce business was being ill thought by the prevailing professional men; fishermen, poets, philosophers, churchmen and aristocrats.

It is also argued by winter in (1988), that the history of the present state of corporation is incoherent and do not provide a proper role of business firm in the society. This is true as the term business ethics and its role in the society was not clearly defined earlier. Business ethics exited, but not as 'business ethics' today. Hence, it can be said that the contemporary business reveled the term 'Business Ethics' and now it acknowledges the present state coherence in business. Thus, the roots of corporation can be found as soon as people adopted the field of commerce and with this business ethics came into existence as well (Geoffrey, 2001).

In the early years, the corporation started in interment societies, universities and towns. As being implicitly associated with exclusive body of the state. It was considered to be a privileged instrument and a part of exclusive body of the state, also fully controlled by the state for its own purpose.
