The rebellion in Cuba leading to a war in the United States of America was known as the Spanish American War. This Spanish American war initially started off in the year 1898. The volunteers, who believed in the pro Spanish leanings, were engaged constantly in the riots in Havana city (Linder, 1974). To reflect the interest of the nation, the United States of America sent its warship known as US Maine. This was the starting point of the war when US Maine exploded. The main theme of the war was the demand of US to peacefully resolve the Cuban war matter by giving some portions of the Spain to United States as it always wants a pie of its share of the territories of Spain having one of the most important strategic influences. This policy has remained a US policy as a part of its worldwide expansion. However, the Spanish American war came to an end when United States achieved one of the most important naval victories in Philippines and Cuba. This end to the war was officially declared over after signing the treaty of Paris which took place after 109 days on an average. This however gave possession of Guam, Puerto Rico and Philippines to the United States of America.
