Introduction

Employees are the most essential element in any Organizations. Their performance, hard work and dedication are very important in the survival and growth of the company. However, the importance of the emotion and feelings of employees cannot be neglected. This is simply because of the fact that these feelings ultimately serve as the decisive factors of whether they will be able to perform well for the company. Several events and incidents have a strong effect upon the employees' motivation to stay and perform in his Organization. In a similar context, Affective Events Theory offers an interesting point of view regarding such events and how they have the ability to shape an employee within his Organization

Affective events theory is a theory that explains the affect of various emotional experiences, including the moods and emotions in the organizations. In addition to emphasizing on the affect, the theory encompasses attitudes, behavior, cognitions, and other critical psychological constructs in order to explain the job performance and behavior of the employees. The theory mainly builds its principles on the various already established models of cognitive appraisal and has also gathered support from numerous study areas in the discipline of emotions in order to introduce a theory encompassing the work behavior (Forgas, 2002). The theory further proposes that the cognitive processes can play an important part in creating many of these reactions.

AET or (Affective Events Theory) suggests that the events occurring within an organization are the basic causes behind these affective reactions. It can be said that things in a work settings happen to individuals where these individuals often react more emotionally to these incidents and events. Hence, the experiences of these individuals as a result have the ability to directly influence or affect the attitudes and behaviors.
