Abortion: Pro-life vs. Pro-choice

Introduction

Abortion, a hot topic currently debated by many. Many questions surround abortion. Natures of the questions, which surround abortion include moral, ethical, social, legal, prolife or prochoice. The argument gathered large groups over the time with two sides mainly prolife and prochoice. The pro-choice hold the belief that every woman has the right to do whatever she wants to. Pro-life holds the belief that women should not opt for abortion until and unless abortion saves the life of mother. Being pro-life or pro-choice is not the only option left for women. There are several other issues which can be classified into pro-life and pro-choice categories but they are far more realistic as compared the emotional, moral and religious debates going around the abortion issue.

Pro-Life Perspectives

Two major approaches, which surround the debate of abortion are pro life and pro-choice. People, who are in favor of pro-life, deal with abortion as a criminal and heinous activity, which is comparable to killing, stealing and any other highly unethical moral or social act. Pro-choice debaters believe that it's a matter of choosing, as simple as a choice between two objects made in daily life. Scholars believe that individuals have divided vies on values. Pro life states that disagree to an issue doesn't mean that issue lacks literature or evidence and secondly over-rating the disagreement doesn't means that the issue is disagreed around the globe because common sense exists in society which can different between agreeable or disagreeable (Lopez pp. 511-517).

Both prolife and prochoice agree that fetus is a human being. Pro-choice defends their stance by saying that the intrinsic value of fetus is zero because of the inability to reason and self development. Cases do exist of mental illness; however no aw in the world explicitly allow killing or terminating the retarded. The philosophical considerations in the society regarding abortion have many issues. The ethical and social value of embryos, the rights equivalent to the rights provided to humans living in the society where people are committing abortion. The strong viewpoint about unborn is still that it is human and h should be give rights equivalent to that of human. Then killing someone becomes crime because it is deprivation of choice, because the other person makes the choice rather than unborn. Thus it should be banned (Lopez pp. 511-517).

Catholic Christian and Christian Church both hold the views that, in any circumstances abortion is discouraged. The basis for this statement is that lives of humans are sacred and no one has a right to kill anyone (Lopez pp. 511-517).

Furthermore the women who are subjected to abortion suffer from severe emotional distress. These problems are long term problems which can affect the health of women in future. The mental and physical health both are affected in the post abortion tenure (Lee, pp.19).

The society has radically changed with this concept of abortion. The foundation of marriage as a relation has been eroded due to abortion techniques ...
