Human and chimpanzees are very much similar in nature and behavior; they are the closest relatives of human living in nature. Chimpanzees were not known to majority of the people before the theory of Charles Darwin regarding chimpanzees which popularized them in the year 1859. A lot has been found out in recent times, and fallacies abound because of the overstatements and arts licenses used in fiction works. However, our differences and similarities are not what a lot of people believe (Mulcahy, 2012). By observation and learning in relation to human and chimpanzees we can understand the comparisons. I went to LA ZOO to observe the chimpanzees and at McDonalds to observe human and observed that there are several comparisons between human and chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee Observation
On the date of July 30th, I went to LA Zoo to observe chimpanzee which is one of primate that close to human. The moment I arrived at chimpanzee area, I immediately saw one of a male chimpanzee who was excreting feces and his anal was facing the mirror. However, that was not just as surprise as the next chimpanzee's action. One male chimpanzee stared and smelled that feces, and almost tried to eat it as action of aberrant fecal. Fortunately, he just walked away and sat on a big rock to stare at one direction for a long time. On the other side of viewing area, a female chimpanzee sat at high place where it was closed to a waterfall. She was holding a berry branches and tended to use it to hide herself without any other movements. While I was still looking at this female chimpanzee, Ben, which is the only male chimpanzee's name I know, seemed to be extremely angry about the sound from zoo's speakers. He had aggressive contact with a metal door but not any other members. He ran toward that door, and jumped to kick it for several times with barking.
During their lunch time, a female chimp hold egg plants on both hands and travel from center waterfall area to the right corner area along with the glasses by knuckle walking. Moreover, her next action was surprising me that she used her mouth as another storage area to carry food. She spit out an unknown food with brown, strip shape which looked like peanut or some kinds of solid food. As she was eating her meal, the rest of female chimpanzees came and stay around her with eating and resting. One member from the female group had a vertical locomotion that climbed the rope up to the board on the top and lie down on it. After couple minutes, she came down with same vertical locomotion that feet stand on the rope first, and jump down to the ground. In the meantime, one chimpanzee was inspecting another female's genitalia and was also using left hand for further examination. From the observation, it seems like female chimpanzees try to keep as a ...
