Introduction

The firm that I have selected for the purpose of this paper is the Uform, which is furniture manufacturing and selling firm. The approach of strategic thinking and planning is significant to every kind of organization. This is partially because of the fact that every well thought out business has long term and critical aims to achieve. For that purpose, organizations have set out most efficient ways to reach these goals using limited resources to generate maximum output (Pertz, 2007 pp. 54). Appraisal methods are one of the core strategies that any firm has to employ in order to gain success; my document will discuss the appraisal strategies that I have drafted for Uform and will also explore its potential implementation methods.

Increased imports at lower prices force the European manufacturers to look for competitive edges and if necessary to restructure their operations. Some looked at their business model, other at the product, the production, productivity or the relation with the final consumer or a combination of some or all of these different aspects. The solutions, some more successful than others they come up with are multiple. Expanded imports at cheaper prices pressurize the manufacturing companies to seek out competing edges considering that it is essential to streamline their operations. Many consider examining their business design, others at the product, the manufacturing output, productiveness or the link with the final buyer or an amalgamation of a few or each of these different areas. Appraisal can take several forms. The form I have chosen is basically performance appraisal methods. Performance appraisal is the only and only type of evaluation that can help deriving the strategies for developing competitive advantage in an organization. Performance appraisal could possibly be looked as an organized professional interaction and communication between a subordinate and manager , which often takes the model of a routine job meeting , whereby the task productivity of the employee is analyzed and discussed , for diagnosing flaws and weak points and strong points coupled with possibilities for progress and skills growth ( Archer North , 2002 ) . To put it differently, Performance appraisal is an official strategy of assessing, reviewing, and influencing an employee's job-related aspects, attitudes and results to figure out how valuable and efficient a staff member is, and to determine whether an employee's performance could be boosted ( Konobear , 2002 ). Appraisal data are utilized in lots of corporations, either indirectly or directly, to help recognizing the better performing staff members who deserves the majority of accessible merit salary uplifts, incentives, and promotions.
