Words & Emotions

Introduction

The words are a reflection of our thoughts and feelings. The first thing that happens is to have a thought that may be good or bad, then, if we cut that thought, can be transformed into words and then into action. Therefore it is important even review our thoughts because it all starts there. Words are very powerful because if you believe them and act on the mind assumes as seeds and cause profound changes in behavior.

To believe them is not so important "what" is said, but "how to say", since over 90% of human communication is influenced by the emotions of the issuer. In fact, the words are merely caused by emotions set in motion thoughts, thoughts that have an open mind to find fertile ground to spark ideas that provoke emotions in the receiver and invite you to action are in fact the point of departure of all creation, for like minds to transmit them to create a commitment to act consistently with our words and the end is the action that produces the miracle of the result.

The words contain a power that is unknown but is checked every day more and more, working on our brain is constantly sending information. This information creates in us feelings, attitudes, thoughts, etc. If we talk about positive things, the greater the likelihood that good things happen, if we talk about negative things, because that is what we get.

Discussion

During a conversation, the generation of each of the words that make up our speech set in motion a sequence of mechanisms that result in the production of the message we want to communicate. Among other processes, activation occurs in the abstract the concept you want to transmit, access to its syntactic, semantic or phonological, or pattern of movements involved in speech (Levelt, Roelofs and Meyer 1999, p. 32). Several studies have shown that these processes occur at different points in time and involve the participation of various brain structures (Levelt, Praamstra, Meyer, Helenius and Samelin 1998, 556). On the other hand, there are variables that influence the rate of generation of words. For example, it is easier to produce words that have more frequent use; they are shorter or have learned at an earlier age.

However, we do not know how emotional information affects the generation of words. Studies show that comprehension of words influences the emotional processing to occur automatically capture the attention of emotional information. Often (but not always, Kuchinke, Jacobs, Grubich, Vo, Conrad and Herrmann 2005, p. 1026), this results in a delay in the process of understanding. Thus the possibility arises that the same will happen during production.

The aim of the study we discussed (Hinojosa, Mendez-Bertolo Carretié and Pozo 2010, p. 1728) was to investigate the interaction between the production of words and their emotional content by measuring reaction times and recording of evoked potentials (EP) . With this technique assesses the changes in brain electrical activity evoked by the stimuli used in a ...
