William the Conqueror

Introduction

William was born in 1028 at Normandy, France as an illegitimate child of King Robert, Duke of Normandy. His mother 'Herleva' was the daughter of artisans so she was a tanner's daughter. William Duke of Normandy became a vassal of the French king and succeeded his father King Robert 2, and stored committed forces to stabilize the territory. During 1050, a descendant of King Bodowan 5 Alfred the Great Earl of Flanders curb and the royal family came to England to get married daughter Matilda. William thus became the most powerful feudal monarchy in France (Hilliam, Pp. 97).

Discussion and Analysis

William I, the Conqueror reigned from 25 December1066 to 9 September 1087. His coronation took place on 25 December 1066. William-I is also known as the Conqueror of the Norman Conquest. The Norman Conquest is the French conquest of England by William of Normandy; therefore he is called William the Conqueror. After conquest he created a sense of national cadastre and maintained registers of land quantities, values and ownership used levying taxes.
