Introduction
In our daily life, a person goes through highs and lows of mood every day. Wretchedness and sadness is a normal reaction of every person on earth, for the discontentment if life, struggles, sorrows, and set back in life. The change in mood of person is often justified as depression; however, depression is more than just a change of mood, gloominess or feeling of misery. Depression is often defined as “living in a black hole', or experiencing the feeling of impending doom. On the contrary, it is noted that some individuals undergoing depression may not have the feeling of sadness at all; however, they many suffer from the feeling of loneliness, emptiness, solitude, apathetic, and lifelessness, and men in mostly experience the feeling of aggression, anger, and restlessness.
Depression is defined as a situation of low mood and loathing to physical or mental activity, which may affect an individual's feeling, thought, physical welfare, and behavior. It is basically a disorder in mood, which is enigmatically excruciating and indefinable, which is only known to the person suffering from it. It is confounding to those who have not experienced it in the severe moods of it; however, the people “the blues”, which people face sporadically and correlate it with the general hassle in life, are of frequency that may hint the individual of the indulgence in this illness in its disastrous form (Davidson, Rieckmann & Lesperance, 2004).
There are millions of people around the world, who are being affected by depression, and it now is started to being considered as massive public health problem. Today, it is estimated that 10% of the adults are facing depressive disorder; whereas, 2% of preteen children and 8% of teenagers are also sufferer of some forms of depressive disorder. In United States, the direct cost is incurred due to depression in the form of treatments, and indirect cost on economy in the form of absenteeism of workers from work, loss of productivity, and children from school. Individuals who are undergoing depressive disorders are likely to encounter diabetes, chronic lung diseases, hypertension, and arthritis.
