Video Games and Their Influence

Introduction

Video game is one of the innovative sources of entertainment that is available to the kids and youth of today's era. Over the period of time it has been observed that these video games have become an important part of the lives of these young children. With the help of marketing and promotional strategiesvidoe games manufactueres are promoting their games and making it a part and parcel of the everyday's life of the youth. When an individual indulge in an activity so much then it is obvious that it would cause certain impacts on that individual. Similalrly, the invention of video games are also cuasing a notable impact on youth. When we talk about impacts and influence that a factor causes or creates on other factor then it is imperative to take into consideration that this impact and influence can be both positive and negative. In the context of video games it can be stated that this latest fashion also proved to cause both positive and negaticve impacts. On a positive note, video games can help an individual in sharpening the skills, improving manual dexterity, improving observation and it also boosts up the energy level. On the other hand, extensive research shows that video games especially one with the violent content can make an individual more aggressive and violent in real life. Scores of research has been conducted and a number of articles have been published about the impact and influence of video games. The aim and objective of this paper is to produce an argumentative essay about this topic by considering and evaluating two articles. Argument is a phenomenon that can be regarded as good because it allows an individual to evaluate the topic under discussion. An argumentative analysis allows to look at both the positive and negative sides of a story. Moreoevr, in an argument new and unique challenges about a statemtn or opinion are put forwarded which in turn broaden the horizons of the topic at hand. An argument can be classified as a good argument when it covers the topic from all the aspects and cover the states opinion in the light of facts, statistics and credible sources. In order to oriduce an argumentative essay, two articles are taken into consideration and these two articles are evaluated. The two articles that are considered for this paper are related to the topic of video games and their influence. The articles that are selected are as follows:

The title of the first article is “violent video games and other media violence” by Craig A. Anderson. The title of the second article is “Violent video games recruit American youth” by William Lugo. The first article discusses the impact of video games and violent media to influence youth to adopt aggressive and vioent behavior. On the other hand, the second article discusses various famous video games and the purpose for which they are used.
