URBAN & REGIONAL PLANNING

Urban & Regional Planning

Critically review how plans of different scales tackle issues of transport and economic development.

Introduction

In a typical organization, management formulate plans at three levels, strategic, tactical and departmental which can further be broken down in individual level. First of all, top management set strategic goals and put in plans to accomplish these plans. The subsequent level of managers broke these strategic plans into tactical plans accordingly. These tactical plans are broken down to department level goals and plans which has to be accomplished by all the departments. Within the department, there are teams composed of individual members who set their own goals and plans which are in compliant with the team goals and ultimately to the strategic goals of the organization. When it comes to Urban and regional planning, same illustration can be applied. In urban and regional planning, there are four scales of planning; local, district, regional and sub regional.

The planning and design of public spaces is the process by which urban planners, designers, architects, women, grassroots and other community stakeholders are collaborating to create the physical elements of public spaces, safe and welcoming to all the members of the society. Urban planning is the important developmental role of government. Use of land and physical planning is the core of urban planning (Catanese and Snyder, 1988). To start with, these days, people want to have a better atmosphere and environment around them. Public places are something that many people use together. At this point, we can say that public places should be regularly checked out to see whether they are giving the benefits to people effectively.

Public places include parks, public washrooms, libraries, and so on. To provide more profits to people, it should work properly, as it was expected to when they were first made. To do this, more money should be spent on it. There are many strong reasons to encourage government spending on developing public places as a part of urban planning. It mainly serves as a means of socializing with people and making new contacts and relationships. However, other benefits to support my argument are as follows:

1.The government can gain large economic returns in the form of investment in this developmental activity.

2.Public places attract tourism and encourage people from other areas and regions to come and visit new places for recreation.

3.It will help in providing quality life style for the people in a way that public places serve as a source of recreation for the families.

4.Job opportunities are created by spending more money on the development of public places. As the government plans to build more public places, the increase in the requirement of the workforce will lead to a decrease in the unemployment.
