Chapter 1: Introduction

This chapter of the research tends to develop an understanding and identify the reasons for conducting a research onto the identified topic. However, in the context of this paper this chapter would inculcate the notions related to the political and public reaction to immigration in the United Kingdom in the present era. Different notions would be inculcated into the fold in order to develop an effective and efficient understanding of the subject.

United Kingdom has changed its face in the last 60 years; this change holds its roots due to various factors. One of those is identified as the post war development and the need to grow and integrate. As a result the demographics of United Kingdom suffered a significant change as it was in 1900's. The fact cannot be ignored that the native population of United Kingdom has failed to produce the required individuals who can match up with the amount of the progress after the war period. Thus, as a result United Kingdom serves as one of the most significant attraction for the people around the globe (Elizabeth 2006, p. 12-34). Although the immigration law formed to control the rate of immigration and to monitor the individual who tends to migrate to United Kingdom has failed to appeal to the public. As immigrants does not come alone and work for the prosperity of the country they are moving to, rather it is mutual. When immigrants came to United Kingdom, they brought their cultures and values with the. As a result it became quite difficult for the existing police to control them with the policing strategies designed for the native English population. Over the years UK has been the battle ground of the individuals who tends to debate in favour and against immigration.

The objective and reason of the study is to point out the effect of immigration on United Kingdom's political and criminal arena.
