The paper consists of the distinctive theories of the famous philosophers and how these theories are associated with human behavior.

Discussion

Machiavelli has come up with some astonishing contrastingtheories. The contribution of Machiavelli into politics has been spanned over a period of time. He emphasizes democracy and civility. Machiavellian is defined in the dictionary toconsist of unscrupulous behavior (Parnell, 2008). The statement of Machiavelli's doctrine was Machiavellian according to political aspects and it is evident through his statement: “It would be best to be both loved and feared.” Machiavelli was a realistic person who wanted the people to look at men in a way that they are not in an idealist state. Machiavelli has claimed that in order to get ahead, one must accept legitimate means in order to go ahead (Parnell, 2008). Machiavelli states in one context that it is best to be loved and feared meaning that a person remains in power and is loved. At instances, the power may vanish and he has to live under threat and fear, but both of these are good for the personal development of a human being. There are many pieces of information here, but it doesn't really provide enough depth to show your understanding. For example how does the statement, “It would be best to be both loved and feared” mean in terms of his thoughts on power.

In his work, “The Prince” he left politics and ethics. He critically analyzed what happens to a person who acts according to Christianity. According to him, the person who acts according to the divine laws shall live in peace and prosperity and those who deviate from these laws may face destruction and poverty. According to Machiavelli, humility was a weaker aspect to rule politically. In his book, he has depicted that when there is a Prince who spends time to think about his own good and harm the society, the society is filled with tyrannical views and does not progress any further (Parnell, 2008).
