Introduction

The image that portrays your expertise in a specific field is a career brand (Mentzer, 2007). It creates an attraction for the ideal employer towards you; it signifies how you can be profitable for a specific business (Kirkland, 2010).Ways of promoting your career brand in an effective way and how to differentiate you in comparison to the workforce engaged in a competition. Above mentioned are all the essential elements of a career band in context with the self-marketing (Ciletti, 2011).The three most important things an individual should understand necessary for self-marketing; these are your target market, your approach to that market, reasons behind your selected target market (Foglio, 2007).The goals of self-marketing include direction for eliminating error and time that results save in money and time, identification of one's transferrable skills, carrying out the marketing of that specific skills, one's defined network with key industry players and clearing of setback that could offend one's career (Hisrich, 2000). The self-marketing also entitles of an individual's goals, successes, core values and offerings that gathers and creates the mission statement of the individual.

According to self-marketing, an individual resume must be very creative. It should be a knock-out marketing piece that outlines the individual's strength and making it unique (Rosenberg, 2008). The resume must be inclusive of data, like, definition of target job and company, small brief of contact information, an executive summary about you, the past relevant positions, accomplishments in education, personal touch of interests and skills (Adams Media Corporation, 1996).The presentation of the resume should sound attractive to the employer.
