Discussion
There are many factors which lead to the changes and transformations in the information technology infrastructure of a company. The parent organization of Alcan was providing the information and communication technology services to Alcan. The company needed the new infrastructure for its IT setup. Alcan required entirely new equipment for its networks and systems, storage, data centers, communication systems and VoIP services, and various other applications. Revamping was required in the complete infrastructure for the technology services of Alcan. The management of Alcan set it a major and top priority objective to attain the absolutely standalone information technology operations as soon as possible. Another main motive behind this transformation was the cost reduction. They strove to minimize the third party involvement in the IT services of Alcan, and hence, reducing the IT costs.
