Teaching “Intelligent Design” in Public Schools

Across the nation, there is a devise debate today about teaching intelligent design in public schools science classes with the theory of evolution. It is important to make the public aware of the importance of teaching intelligent design to our new generation. As a superintendent of the public school, I feel that teaching of intelligent design must not be considered unconstitutional but actually the ruling out of intelligent design from public schools is a violation of the Establishment Clause. If the management of public schools and public of locality honor and appreciate the importance of a good liberal education and the commitment of Establishment Clause to the religious neutrality then this theory of intelligent design must not be criticized. It must be encouraged to be taught to students of this nation. This will be very helpful in broadening their vision. I argue in the favor of imposing intelligent design in public schools even though I firmly believe in the Darwinian explanation of life, that the court has erred by way of conflating metaphysical and scientific issues (William, 2009).

The opportunity of good liberal education builds the abilities of critical thinking in children about their relevant subjects because it is not an easy task to make them agreed with our perspectives. They need to think and decide what is right and what is wrong in the society. It is pointed out by the great philosopher, John Dewey, that the education based on science is a failure if it consists nothing more than the memorization and recitation of scientific facts.
