Introduction

The paper discusses the task of quality assurance in I.T systems. Specific focus will be on the demand forecast software namely Goods4Cast which also helps in automated inventory valuation system. A Gantt chart showing the development process of the software will also be provided within the paper, along with the validity and reliability factors of this tool.

The creation of the software is an inherently creative process and software engineering is to systematize this process in order to limit the risk of failure in achieving the goal through a variety of creative techniques that have proven adequate based on previous experience (Galliers & Baets, 1998, pp. 12-25).

Responsibility for software engineering is a complex concept, especially since computer systems being strongly characterized by their complexity; it is difficult to assess its consequences. In software engineering responsibility will be shared by a large group of people, ranging from the requirements engineer to architect software, and with the designer, or in charge of testing. Above all stands the project manager. The software demands a clear division of responsibility between the different roles that exist in the production process.

Quality Assurance in I.T Systems

To speak of quality assurance should also talk about quality control, which are procedures established to verify and measure the quality of a product, service or process. It is about knowing that quality control can be defined then that quality assurance is the continuing work to ensure that the control quality is applied and the result is a quality product.

Standards for developing IT System

There are several tools that help us for the assurance quality such as CMMI, COBIT, ITIL, ISO 9000 and ISO 270001 (Standard for the information security), all provide us with a set of good practices that we help optimize our work (Marchand et.al, 2000, pp.65).

Information is a key strategic asset of the organization, but too often, information technology (IT) will not be considered or treated only superficially, as a matter of technique. In fact, the IT system is an important resource for the company's success which have been implemented in the management processes and given adequate support. IT service management is an approach to doing business "top down" management of IT. In particular, the strategic benefits it generates, and the need to offer high quality IT services - not only in the end, but also for customers and their interaction with IT systems. ISO / IEC 20000:2005 is the first international standard for IT service management and supply promotes the adoption of an integrated approach to managed services (O'Brien, 2002, pp. 113).
