The theory of symbolic interaction was made popular by Herbert Blumer in 1969. This reflected the criminological as well as social perspective. The theory was actually discovered by George Herbert Mead in 1934 (Buurman, G. M., 2005). The theory basically highlighted how the individuals view their own selves and how their perceived the perceptions of others about them.
