STUDENT SATISFACTION

Student Satisfaction

Abstract

This study is based on a survey of scholarship and self-funded students in the City University of New York. The sample consisted of 100 students who were administered a questionnaire designed to measure student satisfaction with their academic education. The results indicated no significant differences between the scholarships and self financed students satisfaction based on the frequency of meetings and discussion sessions based on their preference for greater ease in education. Self-funded students were more satisfied with their academic orientation, if the duration of the discussion sessions were 15 to 30 minutes.

Student Satisfaction

Introduction

Self financed and scholarship students have been studied as separate entities, there have been few studies comparing the two groups. Significant differences existed between self financed and scholarship students in their satisfaction with academic education but only global satisfaction was measured (Goodyear et al., 2002). The purpose of the present study was to make that comparison in specific areas. The principle of this study was to determine the satisfaction level of students studying at CUNY, the data set has been collected through a survey questionnaire. The sample consists of 51male and 49 female students with the average age of around 20 years. The hypothesis that has been tested for the study was there are no significant differences between scholarship and self financed students in their satisfaction with: their overall education.

This research study that is students who pay for education less satisfied than those who receive it free will be based on both primary data and secondary data, to analyze students who pay for education less satisfied than those who receive it free. Satisfaction levels have risen overall at four-year privates, four-year publics, and community colleges, but have fluctuated at career schools. Despite the many changes to higher education, socioeconomic shifts in students, and the media's focus on higher tuition, students generally indicate that they are more satisfied now than they were in the past. This may be because of an institutional commitment to survey student satisfaction systematically and to actively work towards campus improvements over time. Students today put a greater emphasis on financial aid awards as they decide which institution to attend. This has been a common trend at four-year private institutions, but financial aid has also seen a large jump in importance at four-year and two-year public schools. While financial aid is also a factor for career schools, the biggest shifts have occurred in the emphasis on the school appearance and the location of the college. The City University of New York (CUNY) is the most important center for scientific (research-intensive) in US, it offers students opportunities to study and work abroad. CUNY has an international reputation in terms of academic level, teaching methodology and student satisfaction.

The importance and satisfaction shifts in CUNY climate items. These areas include how students feel at CUNY, CUNY staff being caring, the sense of CUNY “run-around,” and feeling safe and secure atCUNY. As institutions focused more on quality service initiatives during the past 15 years, some of these items had ...
