Introduction

This paper intends to explore the strategies that are formulated and designed especially for the ESL students. Further, it discusses that how further English learning can be improved for ESL students. The second language learners will need support from their educators on how to read and write second language, and also to become successful while learning second language. In the Rochester city school district I thought for a couple of years regarding the problem that many foreign students have been failing in tests due to the lack of reading strategies in a second language. I propose to the study on how educators can be supportive to those foreign students reading strategies.

Research Problem

The problem addressed in this study is that how educators can work effectively to support foreign students. Teaching English to foreign students can be challenging for both, students as well as teachers. Thus, there is a strong need to formulate strategies in order to improve the learning ability in reading and writing English.

This larger educational problem is related to the research study because it involves second language learners reading strategies. The second language learners will need support from their educators on how to read a second language, and also to become successful while learning reading in a second language. In the Rochester city school district, that I have thought for a couple of years, the problem that I have researched is that many foreign students have been failing from test taking due to the lack of reading strategies in a second language.

Research Questions

The central research question of a study tells the reader what the researcher is trying to learn from the study (Cresswell, 2007. In qualitative research, interrogatories such as “what” and “how” are generally used in posing the central question because they tend to generate responses that are unique to the individual experiences of the respondent. Cresswell observed that research questions “foreshadow an approach to inquiry” (p. 107) and promoted the use of Marshall and Rossman's categorization of qualitative questions (i.e., exploratory, explanatory, descriptive, or emancipator) to use as a schema to understand the nature of the inquiry.
