Exercise 36

Answer 1

From the analysis of the results of the study that is “A pilot study of the effectiveness of guided imagery with progressive muscle relaxation to reduce chronic pain and mobility difficulties of osteoarthritis”; it is found that the repeated-measures of analysis of variance exposed a significant difference between the two groups that is treatment and control in context of mobility the women faced in the period of 12 weeks. From the results it is revealed that the F (1, 22) = 9.619 is significant as it is P = 0.005 which is higher than the level of significance that is p < 0.001.

Therefore, it can be said that the intervention group participants faces a significant reduction in mobility difficulty at week 12. However, it is found that mobility difficulty at week 12 in the control group is increased.

Answer 2

Hypothesis

Ho 1: Guided Imagery (GI) with Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) reduces pain difficulties of women with Osteoarthritis.

Ho 2: Guided Imagery (GI) with Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) reduces mobility difficulties of women with Osteoarthritis.

The null hypothesis should be accepted for the difference between the two groups in change in mobility scores over the 12 weeks period as a self-management intervention can decrease both the mobility and pain difficulties of both groups that is treatment and control groups of women with Osteoarthritis.

Answer 3

Reduction in mobility difficulty at week 12 is observed from the participants of the intervention group as its probability is less than 0.05 that is 0.001 which shows that the probability of mobility difficulty at week 12 is statistically significant.

Answer 4

If the level of significance or alpha is set at 0.01 and results of the study shows, p = 0.001 then the results are statistically significant as the significance value of the result is less than the level of significance which is being set at 0.01.

Answer 5

In the give n case that is if F (3, 60) = 4.13, P = 0.04 and the level of significance is set at 0.01 then the result of the study is not statistically significant as the significance value of the result is greater than the level of significance which is being set at 0.01. Therefore, the null hypothesis will be rejected.

Answer 6

Yes, ANOVA can be used to test the relationships and correlations between the variables as the key purpose of the ANOVA include testing of the hypothesis which can be based ...
