Social Work with Children, Young People & Families
Introduction
This essay discusses the systems and ecological approach derived from Urie Bronfenbrenner's most recent bio-ecological systems theory. The theory provides five systems level at which an individual interacts with their environment; these are Microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosyetem, and chronosystem (Kevin & Reginald, 2006, p. 371-378). The Bronfenbrenner's Bio-Ecological model defines the basic approach to deal with social concerns that impact on children as well as their families and care givers on these five levels.
This essay deals with the system theory and how it assists in child care and family protection. One of the systems depends on the bio-ecological system for child care which is derived by Urie Bronfenbrenner's bio-ecological systems theory. This is based on five systems which defines the systemic approach and also provides the idea of assisting the better conditions and approaches in the study of the dynamic nature of the families (Kevin & Reginald, 2006, p. 371-378). This system is based on five systems level at which an individual interacts with their environment; these are Microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosyetem, and chronosystem (Kevin & Reginald, 2006, p. 371-378). The Bronfenbrenner's Bio-Ecological model defines the basic approach to deal with social concerns that impact on children as well as their families and care givers.
This essay will also highlight the evolution of this theory and its definition. Later, it will focus on the importance of this approach in social work interventions for the protection of young people, children and families. This essay will also deals with the five levels and how these different levels provide assistance in dealing with the individuals in interaction with their environment and how this approach can assist in dealing with protection of these children and families from harm. This approach also deals with ecological system and how this bio-ecological system theory assists in providing resistance from harm (Smith,2012).
Discussion
Evolution of Bronfenbrenner's Bio-Ecological
This theory was evolved in 1970s as “The Ecology of Human Development”. It deals with different perspective of children, family and their interaction in ecological system with experiences and other interventions. This theory deals with the various social issues in terms of bio-ecological model. This is mainly involved with the general social concerns like Chemical dependency, family violence and homelessness are the mainly reasons for the stress in the ecology of family. The chemical dependency is very major issue; it can be any form of chemical dependency either on medication or daily life use of the chemical substances which affect the human health and the worst of all is the use of the drugs (Kevin & Reginald, 2006, p. 371-378). This is one of the major social problems which are affecting the society and family ecology.
