Introduction

This paper intends to explore the social problems that have been prevailing in the society. Many researchers have investigated various viewpoints in social science and held it to be greatly significant, further it is also imperative to analyze that how sociology attempts to look into various aspects of social issues. The main focus of this paper is to investigate one major social issue of the society. For this purpose I have chosen Public education in the society.

Discussion

The American society is facing various issues in public education that shall be better understand if is analyzed that how public education is being financed in this country. Unfortunately, there is a severe disparity that prevails in the society regarding the funding received by public schools throughout the country. This has resulted in the public schools to become for the Richest only. Whilst, there are schools out there that are in a state of deterioration with infrastructure so bad that the classrooms are overcrowded. This has an adverse effect on the economy and progress of the country in the long term. For the reason, that the exacerbating conditions due to funding issues lead to ever increasing drop-out rates from public schools (www.pbs.org, 2011).

Statistical Analysis of the Problem

According to the U.S Census Bureau, the national average of United States in the year 2009 was $10,500. This was reported to be an increase of 2.3 % as compared to previous year 2008 (foxnews.com, 2011). Further, some of the states were seen to spend more than the reported national average figure. The highest amount spent on public education was witnessed in New York with $18,126 per student. Then among the top spending states, falls the name of Washington with $16,408.
