Introduction

The Great Wall of China is an ancient fortress China built and rebuilt between the V century a. C. and the sixteenth century to protect the northern border of the Chinese Empire during the imperial dynasties successive attacks. On July 7th of 2007 was announced that the Great Wall of China was selected as a winner in the list of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

As one of the cultural heritage of mankind, the Great Wall has always attracted the attention of people. But what really is the length of the Great Wall and what is its current protection status? Even in the narrow circle of specialists in the protection of cultural relics in China cannot give an exact answer. But this uncertain situation will change soon, as it is undertaking a survey and mapping in large scale the Great Wall and the necessary work has already been launched. The survey is necessary as the nature of the topic is such that it cannot be judged by the readings presented on this topic. The conservation of the Great Wall of China is necessary and to make it possible many surveys are conducted to the Wall of China. To provide justifiable results conduction of survey is important. This will be the part of the paper which will provide a clear justification.
