Introduction

Sigmund Freud is Psychology's most famous personality; he is one of the controversial and influential thinkers of twentieth century. His theories and work assisted to shape views related to personality, childhood, sexuality, therapy and memory. Various other thinkers made contribution to grow out of Freud's legacy, whereas many others prepared their own theories, which opposed his ideas.

According to 2001 Time Magazine Freud was tagged as one of the important thinkers of the twentieth century. In 2006 Newsweek article named him History's most debunked doctor, Whereas his theories have always been debatable and controversial, affecting the therapy, culture and psychology undeniably (Frosh 1987). Theory of Freud's had a great influence, although his theories have faced certain criticism both during and after his life. On the other hand, his can be linked to ones culture consisting of terms including Freudian slip, denial and repression taking place everyday language of an individual. Freud ideas had a substantial impact on psychology that complete school of thought came out from his work. Furthermore, it was replaced by the rise of psychoanalysis, behaviorism, providing a long lasting impact on both psychotherapy and psychology. Sigmund Freud writing depicts his major ideas and theories, such as interpretation of dreams, which was one of his personal favorite, He theorized and wrote broad category of subjects, it involves, dreams, religion, sex, culture, and women. Freud's innovative methods for identifying new treatment of human dreams, actions and cultural artifacts have contributed invariably and achieved the symbolic importance, which proved to be an extraordinary helpful, and provided immense implications in broad range of field such as anthropology, psychology, semiotics, appreciation, creativity and appreciation. Whereas, Freud's most successful invention includes psychoanalysis, which he invented as a most successful science of mind, it remained a course of controversy and critical debate.
