Scientific Discoveries by Louis De Broglie

Introduction

Louis de Broglie was a French Physicist. He belonged to a noble family. He was the younger son of Victor. He was encouraged by his brother, Maurice, who was also a physicist. De Broglie got his first ever degree in History. He started his academic career in Humanities. After a certain amount of time he got his degree in physics and started to show remarkable achievements towards science. He was in the French army. During the First World War he contributed the army personal in regard to radio communications. In 1924 he formulated his theory related to electron waves. This contained the work already discovered by Einstein and Max Planck. It was all about wave-particle duality theory of matter. The thesis exam department without knowing the material written by Louis de Broglie passed it on to Einstein. Einstein after thoroughly going through the thesis accepted it without any objections. He thus was awarded a doctorate degree. This research proved that any moving object or particle consisted of a number of waves. De Broglie to his credit discovered a field of physics known as mechanics, combining the physics of energy (wave) and matter (particle). He was also awarded a Nobel Prize for this achievement.

Atomic Theory

Louis de Broglie is recognized for his thorough analysis and research on quantum theory and for his discovery of wave nature of wave particle and electrons matter. According to assumptions made by him "The fundamental idea contained was the following. Since Einstein introduced the light waves and the introduction of photons in light waves, it was obvious that there were particles in light that had concentrated energy in them. This energy is contained in the form of wave. This also suggests that all the particles must be transported from one point to another. In the case of light and photons, the basic idea was to extend to all particles the coexistence of waves and particles discovered by Einstein in 1905. "A particle that has mass can be solved by using the equation: mass into velocity

Where m denoted the mass of the particle and v represents the velocity. Here we have derived a simple equation related to momentum. Conditions apply if the particle has a definite mass and a particular velocity as well.

This equation and its assumptions led to the development of wave mechanics. This equation was studied and analyzed by scientists such as Einstein and Schwarz, assured by the experiments of electron diffraction.

Researches on the quantum theory

At the Paris University Louis De Broglie was able to deliver a speech that was related to his discovery of quantum physics. Earlier in the 1920's, he was inspired by his brother Maurice, who was a scientist as well. It was during the war that Maurice was studying about the nature of X-rays. Louis liked watching his brother doing experiments one after ...
