Life is beautiful! In this life, it is the privilege right of each and every individual to enjoy pleasures and blessings of life. To do this it is imperative that one should be in the sound state of health and fitness. There are people who possess the risk to suffer from various diseases. Knowing these risk factors is important as it aids in dealing with the disorder or disease. The aim and objective of this paper is also to talk about the risk factors of a specific disorder. The disorder that is discussed in this paper is eating disorder. Eating disorder can be described as a group of condition related to eating habit. There can be different conditions and on this basis there are different types of eating disorders. The main types of eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder (McKnight, 2003).

In the United States of America almost 7 million females and 1 million males suffer from eating disorder. Risk factors are also known as the causes of the eating disorder (Garner & Garfinkel, 2002). In the following part a list of various risk factors are mentioned. There can be scores of events and situations that can lead an individual to develop eating disorder. These risk factors are discussed below:

Gender

The first and the most important risk factor that is considered as one of the serious risk factors to make an individual suffer from eating disorder is gender. It is considered that females especially girls who are in teen age and young women are more likely to suffer from eating disorder. As compared to females young men and teen age boys are less likely to develop eating disorder.
