Introduction

According to the plan of Kentucky, "hazardous position" workers such as police, not yet eligible to retire, become disabled, are given credit for additional years of service to the extent necessary to satisfy the criteria for normal retirement.( Ramesh 2003) In contrast, workers who are eligible for normal retirement benefits, but continue to work, are not eligible for disability retirement benefits in case of disability.( Rosen 2007) The retirement benefit is calculated by multiplying years of service times 2.5 percent times final pre-retirement pay a worker.
